Panama and every country in Latin America has experienced lock downs with strict quarantines, restricted movement of people, airport closings and suspension of economies. Churches are not gathering in buildings and Bible Schools are not meeting in classrooms.Nevertheless, the church is still active and Bible Schools continue to train ministry leaders. Although we postponed major ministry events, new opportunities of ministry have opened.
Resource & Advisory Center
Over the past serveral months, we have responded to the needs resulting from the pandemic. We hosted webinars and forums to give professors and administrators the necesary tools to make the shift from traditional in-class to online delivery of courses. We participated in online conferences about the need for discipleship "from a distance" following the example of the apostle Paul. We have advised and provided support for the Latin America Advanced School of Theology (ISUM- Instituto de Superación Ministerial) and the Latin America Theological Seminary (Facultad de Teologia) as they venture for the first time into online learning for hundreds of students continuing their studies after graduating from Bible School. Miguel has also shared during online chapel devotionals for ISUM seminar students.
We are blessed to be a part of the Resource & Advisory Center (Centro de Recursos y Asesoría) since 2011 and have directed the ministry since 2018. We serve the more than 1,100 Bible schools and extensions throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, and we continue to extend our reach to serve Spanish speakers throughout the world.
Christian Education Services
Christian Education Services (SEC - Servicio de Educación Cristiana) is a resource of support for the Spanish-speaking church in the area of biblical and theological education, at the local church as well as at the Bible school and postgraduate studies levels. It consists of a large network of active ministries of the Assemblies of God, which equips Spanish-speaking believers throughout Latin America, the Caribbean and the world.
In the recent online meeting of the SEC Administrative Commission, Miguel was named Interim Coordinator. He has been a part of the Commission since 2012, having served as Assistant Coordinator and Representative to Latin America's Bible Schools. Miguel and Mari will continue to serve as Advisors to Latin America’s Bible Schools. We are thankful for the trust placed in us to continue serving our national superintendents, Christian education directors and fellow training ministry leaders.
Missions Training and Mobilization
We continue to believe and trust the Lord for the new international cross cultural and language school. It would be hosted at the Latin America Resource and Training Center located in Panama. The country's diverse demographics make it possible to teach English as a second language, and even teach essential Mandarin and Arabic, too. It's unique location in the region allows for Latin Americans to come to a central location and receive the needed missiological and linguistic learning prior to leaving for overseas missions service.
We are praying to the Lord of the harvest to raise up more Latin American missionaries that are ready to go and reach the unreached and under-reached peoples of the world with the Story of Jesus.
Thank you or partnering with us in reaching, training and mobilizing ministry leaders in Panama and throughout Latin America. Together we continue to make a difference in the lives of so many people!
